Material hardness measurements
Method by which these types of tests are carried out involves imprinting a ball of prescribed diameter, perpendicular to the surface of the test piece. The ball used as a penetrator must have a hardness at least 70% higher than the hardness of the tested material. The instrument used for this process is called a durometer.
